slower than a union shop

Why the hell does it take Verizon TWENTY DAYS to have a computer register a DSL order, print a label, have someone slap the label on a box of equipment, and ship it to me by UPS? That could be a completely automated process; how many orders do they have to be backed up by to take TWENTY freaking days? (The usual wait is supposed to be five!?) If cable internet didn't cost three times as much per month, I'd just order that and let them race to be the first to get me connected. Twenty days to put a damn mailing label on a box.... bah.
