dead weight

It's time to start canceling credit cards. I cleaned out my wallet and found at least one credit card from every major network except AmEx, plus a company charge and a debit card. Since running up large balances on the credit cards -- which I'm in the process of paying off slowly -- I've switched to only using my debit card when making purchases. That way, I'm not borrowing any more. So why do I keep carrying them around with me? Some of them aren't really even usable. Out they go.

I still have two of my four student IDs in there too. The I-card stays for now (I need it for ID in some places), but the Rose card is going in the drawer. A copy of an old insurance card for a policy I haven't been covered by in two-and-a-half years gets shredded.

Now if I could just get all my transactions to clear so that my checkbook will balance.

Jennifer Jasko now, I guess:

We're thinking of cancel(l)ing some, too. It's a pain to have a lot of cards, bills, and statements floating around, and I'm afraid of missing a bill.
