screwy priorities

The one consumer item I find harder to resist than new electronic toys is a good book sitting on the shelf in a store. Since coming to Maryland, I have visited a few bookstores here and there. Now that my things have to be packed up to fly out in the morning, the results of this craving for quality printed and bound material present a problem. (It's a bit late to be running to the post office, you see.)

[Edit: It fits finally, with room to spare and nothing left behind.] It's ridiculous how two easily stowed carry-on items which exceed the one piece rule can be placed in a smallish duffel bag large enough to contain both and suddenly become one slightly more unwieldy carry-on to conform to airline requirements and get on the plane.
