lower than expected is good but still bad

This is definitely shutting the barn door after the horse has run off, but I need to upgrade my cell plan to one with rollover minutes. Last month's "call everyone and let them know in extensive detail that I have a job" episode made my bill more than triple what it normally is.

:)

I swapped plans last summer to obtain in-network calling. The GE was using up my minutes, you see.

Unfortunately, the result was that I got badly reamed by Verizon Wireless's overage schemes, such that it would actually have been (marginally) less expensive to pay for both plans for the whole month than it turned out to be to pay for the old one half the month and the new one the other half of the month (since they prorated both plans, I got far fewer day time minutes during the first half of the month, which resulted in grotesque overages--and an accusation by their customer service rep that I had 'abused' the in-network calling; sometimes, words fail).

I still like Verizon, but I'm never switching plans mid-month again. I could have cut my losses by turning off the phone last time.
